COVID-19 Response

“At Hill Country Montessori School, we value the child as an individual and strive to create an environment that is both nurturing and stimulating. Children should be excited to go to school and feel completely comfortable once they arrive. In the current situation, this commitment to our students will continue, but we are also taking the necessary precautions and applying them to everyday life at HCMS.

Putting safety first is the number one priority because we hope that this will bring about a sense of ease and peace to both the families and the staff. Our plan is to continue to implement the Montessori philosophy and not lose touch with the core spirit of Montessori learning while implementing all of the necessary changes to promote well-being and health.”

– Janette Garcia, Head of School

Policies & Procedures

HCMS decisions regarding COVID-19 are guided by the four principles below:

  • Protect the health, safety, and wellbeing of every member of our community, and contribute to the local Boerne, TX efforts to reduce the spread of this virus.
  • Base our decisions on health guidance from federal, state, and local government and health agencies.
  • Continue carrying out our Montessori School mission.
  • Take actions that are consistent with our HCMS values.

To help protect the health and safety of our staff, families, and visitors, we require all campus tours be scheduled through the admission office prior to visiting the school.

Hill Country Montessori School has implemented several strategies and policies to encourage behaviors that reduce the spread of COVID-19.

  • Educate our staff and families about when their child(ren) should stay home and when they can return to school.
  • Staff and students who are ill or have tested positive for COVID-19 are required to follow the most current CDC requirements and recommendations.
  • Teaching and reinforcing handwashing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • We are providing adequate hygiene supplies, including soap, hand sanitizer, paper towels, tissues, disinfectant wipes, cloth face coverings, and no-touch trash cans.
  • Our staff cleans and disinfects frequently touched surfaces within the HCMS school daily and between use.
